IndiGo A321neo Returns to Vishakhapatnam Due to Severe Engine Vibrations

An IndiGo flight departing for Delhi made a precautionary return to Vishakhapatnam, India after experiencing severe engine vibrations on 9 September 2025.

IndiGo flight 6E2776 had conducted a departure from runway 10 Vishakhapatnam Airport (VTZ).

The aircraft, an Airbus A321neo, was performing a scheduled service bound for Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL).

During the initial climb after takeoff, flight crew reported severe engine vibrations originating from the aircraft right-hand engine.

Flight crew terminated the climb procedure below 10,000 feet, before conducting a direct return. The aircraft landed without further incident on runway 28 Vishakhapatnam Airport, just over 30 minutes after its initial departure.

According to The Aviation Herald, a post flight inspection on the engine revealed damage to 3 or four blades in the engine’s high pressure turbine stage.

Following the takeoff from runway 10, flight crew terminated the climb procedure at 7,000 feet. A direct return to the departure airport was then carried out.

This is a 5.5 year old narrow body aircraft belonging to the carrier IndiGo.
