Helldivers 2 players want the Space Optimization booster to be a permanent part of loadouts

Nothing is arguably more important in Helldivers 2 than having a maxed-out kit. After all, the fight for Managed Democracy can often be decided by a single bullet, stim, or grenade. So, naturally, players are now asking Arrowhead Game Studios to make the Space Optimization Booster to be a part of every soldier’s base kit. Because without it, we are at a crucial equipment disadvantage that can turn the tides of battle in the Terminids’ and Automatons’ favor.
On Reddit, some players, like u/MrJoeMazing, argue that since running Hellpod Space Optimization (alongside the Vitality Enhancement and Stamina Enhancement boosters) is already a necessity, they might as well be part of the base kit. u/Defiant_Series2973 then suggested that the developers should rework the Space Optimization booster while making the full ammo, stim, and grenade perks a permanent part of player loadouts.
Of course, in typical Reddit fashion, the thread eventually evolved into a commentary on how governments have perpetually under-equipped their soldiers throughout history. This prompted Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani to chime in on X (formerly Twitter), saying that player requests to make Hellpod Space Optimization a part of the base kit is “a fun pickle to solve” and that he “will check in with [the] design [team].”
Now, Jorjani’s comments don’t immediately mean that AGS is planning on automatically equipping every player with this booster. However, it’s safe to assume that the development team plans to devise a compromise that’ll satisfy players while keeping Helldivers 2 an enjoyable challenge. Because at the end of the day, nothing ever comes easy, especially when you’re serving up a healthy dose of Liber-tea in the name of Super Earth.
