DBD 2v8 mode start time, release date countdown and everything you must know

Dead By Daylight has had a great month and July is ending with a bang. Fans have been anticipating 2v8 mode for a long time, and it is finally on the horizon of coming out. Here you will find the DBD 2v8 mode release date and start time countdown for when it will come out, along with everything you need to know about the event such as how it plays for both killers and survivors.

The July 2024 roadmap ends next week with the Forgotten Memory Collection, and then we have some massive Dead By Daylight content to look forward to for the remainder of the year. The CastleVania chapter is exciting, and BeHaviour has confirmed the previously leaked release date for The Casting of Frank Stone, September 3rd.

Both CastleVania and Supermassive Games’ Frank Stone spin-off are exciting, but the DBD community is just as pumped for 2v8 mode. The release date and start time countdown is nearly over, and you will want to enjoy it while it lasts as it is not permanent for the time being.

Dead By Daylight 2v8 mode release date

The release date for Dead By Daylight 2v8 mode is July 25th. This was confirmed by BeHaviour when sharing their roadmap for this month.

While it comes out tomorrow, the unfortunate news is that it is only scheduled to last until August 8th. During the DBD livestream preview on July 16th, BeHaviour repeatedly stated that this is the “first iteration” of 2v8 mode. Said wording suggests it will return in the future bigger and even better.

In addition to the upcoming event, BeHaviour finally released cross-progression on July 22nd. Cross-progression is now out across all platforms, but the unfortunate news is that Switch players have it rough with fans blaming Nintendo rather than BeHaviour.

When does DBD 2v8 mode start?

The release time for when Dead By Daylight 2v8 mode will come out and start should be 8AM PT/11 AM ET/4PM BST on July 25th. These are the typical launch hours for updates and events such as the recent Twisted Masquerade.

As per its name, the mode features two DBD killers against eight survivors. Matches will take place across maps larger than the usual versions in the base experience, and there are no hooks as they are replaced with cages.

DBD 2v8 mode killers and skills

There are only five original Dead By Daylight killers available for DBD 2v8 mode. Below are the eligible killers along with their skills:

• The Trapper:
  • Faster trap setting
  • More traps
  • Set traps to give teammates a speed boost
• The Wraith:
  • Make nearby teammate undetectable
  • Uncloak and cloak faster
  • Move faster while cloaked
• The Huntress:
  • Hatchet hits reveal survivor auras
  • Faster movement without hatchets
  • More hatchets
  • Faster reloading
• The Hillbilly:
  • Reduce collision cooldowns
  • Expose survivors while chainsaw sprinting
  • More chainsaw control
  • Chainsaw no longer instantly downs
• The Nurse:
  • Extended lunge
  • Additional blink while near teammate
  • Bigger chain blink window
  • Reduced fatigue

DBD 2v8 mode survivors and classes

While killers have specific skills, survivors have classes instead. These classes are not survivor-specific so any survivor can take on any role.

Below are all of the survivor classes and their unique traits:

• Guide:
  • Reveal your aura and the generator’s aura to your team when repairing
  • See Generator auras
  • Great skill check progression boost
• Medic:
  • Grant nearby survivors a heal boost
  • See auras of injured survivors
  • Faster healing speed
• Scout:
  • Reveal killer aura when they break a pallet wall or damage a generator
  • Reveal killer’s aura to team when killer is in your line of sight
  • Make no sound when injured
• Escapist:
  • Shared sprint burst
  • Reveal the auras of windows, breakables and pallets
  • Run faster while injured

Playable maps

In addition to only five original killers, there will also only be five playable maps. These maps are larger than the versions seen in 1v4, and the list is as follows:

• Autohaven wreckers
• Red Forest
• Macmillan Estate
• Crotus Penn Asylum
• Coldwind farm

While these maps are larger than usual, another difference is that they will be littered with cages rather than hooks. Not only that, but each map will have 13 generators, and survivors will need to fix a minimum of eight.
