Call of Duty Zombies remains one of Activision’s most popular game modes in its shooter series for a reason: mowing down hordes of the undead is just pure, unadulterated fun. So, since its players have dubbed XDefiant a “CoD beater,” it needs its own version of Zombies to be considered a competitor to the FPS crown. Of course, it doesn’t necessarily need to feature brain-eating enemies. Instead, it can include an invasive species based on one of Ubisoft’s IPs: Rabbids.

For those unfamiliar with these hyperactive rabbit-like creatures, Ubisoft initially introduced Rabbids as antagonists in the Rayman series. However, their unique, googly-eyed look and gibberish muttering soon turned these animals into fan-favorite characters, eventually spawning their own spin-off games, including the popular turn-based game Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope. Now, a potential Rabbid Zombies game mode in XDefiant is by no means a certainty. But that hasn’t stopped players from asking the devs for its addition to the game.

Over on Reddit, u/kill_dalton_kill is on their ninth day of asking Ubisoft to bring Rabbids into XDefiant as part of a co-op Zombies mode. They later added that this mode would be “an infinite player base glitch” since, let’s face it, who wouldn’t enjoy obliterating Rabbid swarms? Although most of the XDefiant subreddit has since moved on to some of the game’s other pressing issues (see the game-breaking hit reg problems some have been encountering), it continues to garner support from a few fans.

It is worth noting that a hypothetical XDefiant Rabbids mode is much larger than an update that includes a sniper nerf. So, even if Ubisoft were to bring it into the game, it would likely take several months before it could be finished. Hopefully, though, it’s something that the devs consider because any FPS would undoubtedly benefit from a zombies-like mode, especially if it features an iconic set of zany, rabbit-like characters.
