Norwegian B737-800 Returns to Stockholm After Tyre Burst

A Norwegian Air Shuttle flight departing for Paris suffered a tyre burst on takeoff, prompting a return to Stockholm on 27 August 2025.

Norwegian flight D82046, operated by a Boeing 737-800, had conducted a departure from runway 19R Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN).

The aircraft was conducting a scheduled service bound for Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).

During the takeoff from runway19R, the aircraft suffered a burst tyre which resulted in noticeable airframe vibration.

Flight crew continued with the takeoff procedure, before terminating the departure and climb at flight level FL160.

The aircraft then entered a holding pattern, before carrying out a precautionary return to Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

The aircraft subsequently landed without further incident on runway 19R, approximately one hour after the flight’s initial departure.

According to The Aviation Herald, air traffic control reported hearing a tyre explosion during the takeoff procedure. Debris from the tyre was subsequently identified by ground crews on the active runway.

Passengers on board the aircraft reported that a loud bang and strong vibrations occurred during the takeoff procedure.

A replacement aircraft was mustered by the airline to complete the scheduled service to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, due to the unserviceability.

Flight data shows that flight D82046 had made a departure from Stockholm Arlanda Airport at 9:26 AM local time on 27 August.

Following the takeoff, the climb procedure was terminated at flight level FL160. A descending holding pattern procedure was then entered at 8000 feet to the north east of the airport.

The flight then conducted a return for a landing on runway 19R.
