Thankfully, the latest Helldivers 2 patch forgot to fix the infinite grenade glitch

Earlier today, Arrowhead Game Studios released the latest Helldivers 2 01.001.004 update, with it addressing various issues in the game. Despite fixing some crashes and glitches, there is one prominent glitch that has yet to be addressed even six months on. Early on in Helldivers 2’s lifecycle, players discovered a glitch that allows players to use unlimited grenades after duplicating the amount into the millions, ensuring you can spread managed democracy to every enemy on the map.

The latest Helldivers 2 01.001.004 update nerfed the Impalers as well as fixed some crashing issues among other minor changes. Thankfully, one issue that Arrowhead Game Studios didn’t fix was the infinite grenade glitch. This has been a long-standing glitch in the game dating back to its launch in February 2024.

Arrowhead may fix it one day, although they don’t seem to be in a hurry to do so, if you haven’t had the opportunity to check out the glitch yet, you can easily activate it by following these steps:

• Equip the grenades
• Open and close the stratagem menu once
• Throw all of your grenades until the counter is showing 0
• Quickly open and close the stratagem menu multiple times by mashing the button.
• You will know if the glitch has been done correctly if your Helldiver is holding a grenade in their hand despite the counter showing as 0. Once you throw the grenade the counter will increase to millions and you will never run out. This can be tricky to get working but once you get it down you should be able to replicate it easily.

This 01.001.004 update marks the first of multiple patches that we can expect over the coming few months as Arrowhead Game Studios laid out a 60-day roadmap to revert many of the changes made in the Escalation of Freedom update following backlash from the community. It will be interesting to see whether the developers stick to the plan and whether the changes made will be what is needed to rebuild trust within the Helldivers 2 community.
